FINAL PROJECT - INFOGRAPHIC VIDEO ANIMATION

 Instructions ( Part 1 )

Based on FLIP group topic research, produce a basic video animation

 Description
Using a processed design framework, you will now produce an infographic report to present the given information to a ‘target audience’ with the purpose of:

1. Creating awareness (such as Global Warming, Recycle, etc.)

2. Explaining a process (such as "how to" video)

3. Defining a concept (such as "What is Fast Fashion", "What is Color Wheel", etc.)

Any time based media and software using photography, vector imagery.

 Design Considerations:
● Organization Principles – LATCH and Content Organization
● Aesthetic Principles – Animation principles
● Cognitive Principles – Principles of visualization

 Output Expectation:
The presentation must be deliberated on, consider each assessment rubric of sorts to your final outcome:

● Show causality
● Multivariate graphics and visuals
● Integrate word number and images
● Content count
● Within eyesight
● Use multiple charts
● Do not de-quantify

 Process

Forming Group & Choose Topic

At the start of our final project, we formed a group of 10 members and had our first discussion during the tutorial class. Initially, we considered focusing on the topic of adopting vs. buying cats, but after receiving feedback from Mr. Shamsul, he challenged us by asking, “Why cats and not dogs?” This made us rethink our approach, and after some discussion, we decided to shift our focus to adopting vs. buying dogs instead.

Flip Presentation

Once we finalized our topic, we moved on to preparing our Flip presentation slides. Our team leader divided the tasks and allowed each member to choose their part. I decided to work on the target audience section, researching and identifying the key groups that would benefit from our project.

After completing our slides, we presented them to the class, receiving valuable feedback that helped refine our understanding of the topic.

Animation Video Task Delegation

With our presentation completed, we proceeded to the next phase—creating our animation video. As a team, we brainstormed ideas and delegated tasks accordingly. I was assigned to work on the script and storyboard alongside Emily.

Storyboard & Script
Initially, we thought of crafting an animated story that would subtly deliver our message through a narrative. We began by developing a storyline and sketching out the storyboard accordingly.

However, after a consultation session, we realized that our video needed to be an infographic animation, focusing on graphics, charts, and data visualization rather than a narrative-driven animation.

This meant that Emily and I had to rewrite the script and completely redo the storyboard to ensure it aligned with the project’s requirements. Despite the unexpected change, we adapted quickly and worked efficiently to complete our tasks.

Once our revised script and storyboard were completed, the Voiceover (VO) team and the Illustration & Animation team took over the next steps. The VO team recorded the narration while the animators worked on bringing the graphics to life.

After multiple rounds of refining and adjustments, our team successfully completed the video! It was a rewarding experience to see our hard work come together in a final product that effectively communicated the importance of adopting over buying dogs.

 REFLECTION

Experience

This project was a great learning experience in teamwork and problem-solving. Working with Emily on the script and storyboard was enjoyable, but we faced challenges when we had to redo our work. Even though it was unexpected, we adjusted quickly and made sure our animation met the requirements. In the end, seeing our final video completed felt very rewarding.

Observation

I realized how important it is to fully understand the project before starting the work. At first, we thought we were making a story animation, but later we found out it needed to be an infographic. Because of this, we had to redo everything. This showed me that asking questions and checking details early can help avoid extra work.

Findings

I learned that an infographic video can be just as interesting as a story animation. By using good visuals, charts, and simple graphics, we still made the message clear and engaging. This project also helped me understand more about the benefits of adopting dogs and how animation can be used to spread awareness.
