 REFLECTION

Experience

Throughout this module, I engaged in a variety of projects that deepened my understanding of video and sound production. Starting with basic exercises in Adobe Premiere Pro, I learned how to organize and edit footage, and then progressed to more complex tasks like sound design and color grading. My role as art director in a group project allowed me to take on responsibilities such as coordinating wardrobe, managing props, and assisting with sound and lighting. Additionally, I created a TikTok video based on a popular trend, adapting my editing skills to a different platform. The most challenging and rewarding experience was the final project, where I produced a clay stop-motion video titled "The Wilting Flower," addressing air pollution and global warming.

Observation

Throughout the module, I observed the significant impact that both sound and visual elements have on storytelling. In sound design, I realized how carefully selected audio can enhance the narrative, making the visuals more compelling. Working as an art director, I saw how crucial collaboration is in achieving a cohesive final product, especially when aligning visual and auditory elements. In my final project, the painstaking process of stop-motion animation highlighted the importance of attention to detail, as every small adjustment contributed to the overall flow and message of the video.

Findings

This module reinforced the idea that video production is a complex process that requires both technical skills and creative vision. I discovered that sound design is not just an accessory to visuals but a vital component that shapes the viewer’s experience. My experiments with different editing sequences and color grading revealed the power of visual manipulation in conveying mood and narrative. Finally, the stop-motion project taught me the value of patience and precision in animation, as well as the potential of video as a medium for raising awareness about critical issues like climate change.
